"Do I need an Embryo Transfer
Contract?"
No. We charge for
individual services as they are
performed. Just like taking your horse
to a veterinarian for a lameness exam. You are only charged for the procedures
that are actually completed. All we
need is payment in advance for the
Embryo Transfer Fee of $500.00 for
shipped embryos.

"How do I let you know when I will need
a recipient mare?"
For shipped embryos
this is the most important information
that we need. You can download or call
and request an Embryo Transfer
Information Packet. In this packet will
be an Instruction Page and a Mare Fax
Reservation Form. You or the person
palpating/breeding/flushing your mare
will need to fax this form to us as
explained in the instruction page. A
fax MUST be sent on breeding day,
ovulation day and flush day. This is
the only way to
insure that you will have a
recipient mare for your shipped embryo. We will not be responsible for being
unable to supply you with a recipient
mare, if any one of the above steps is
skipped or not completed on time by you
or your breeding facility.

"How do I reserve a recipient mare if
the flush is done at Timber Creek Veterinary
Hospital?"
There is no need for
advance notice if we are breeding and
flushing your mare. But, if you are
breeding her at another location and
bringing her to us for the flush, you
must follow the instructions just like a
shipped embryo plus call and make an
appointment for the flush on the flush
day.

"What other charges are involved in the
Embryo Transfer at your facility?"
"What happens if my embryo does not
take?"
For all embryo
transfers there is a $500.00 transfer
fee or flush/transfer fee. This is NOT
refundable if the mare never obtains a
pregnancy or absorbs a later pregnancy. If this happens, then it is up to you to
decide whether to rebreed your mare and
try again or quit.

"Do I ever get a refund on charges
incurred if a pregnancy absorbs or aborts?"
No. Once we
transfer an embryo into a recipient mare
and after we detect a viable pregnancy
at 14-15 days by ultrasound you become
responsible for the up keep of the
recipient mare carrying your embryo. (Example: the $75.00 ultrasound fee,
$13.00/day board, progesterone and any
tests or medications that the mare may
need). These charges are not
refundable, but they do stop accruing
once we determine there is no longer a
viable pregnancy.

"Is the recipient mare purchased or
leased?"
All recipient mares
are leased by you from Abraham Equine,
Inc. They must be returned according to
the mare lease agreement. Payment for
the lease should be made to Abraham
Equine, Inc. Any deviations from this
should be approved by Abraham Equine,
Inc.

"When do I get a Mare Lease Agreement?"
Once we detect a
heartbeat in your embryo, a Mare Lease
Agreement will be completed and mailed
to you for your signature and payment.
"When and how do I pay for your
services?"
All veterinary
services must be paid from your monthly
billing statement or prior to the
release of your recipient mare, which
ever comes first. All leases must be
paid within 10 days after the mare is
checked to be 35 days pregnant or before
she leaves our facility. Both Timber
Creek Veterinary Hospital and Abraham
Equine, Inc. accept Cash, Check, Money
Orders, Visa or
MasterCard.

"Is there any paperwork that I must
complete with my mare’s registry prior to an
embryo transfer?"
Yes. For all Quarter
Horses and Paint Horses you must
complete their required forms prior to
performing the embryo transfer. For your
convenience you can click on the
appropriate
AQHA link or
APHA link to locate the
necessary forms. For all other breeds,
please contact your breed registry for
their requirements.
